Lots of updates this month, let’s get right to it!
Founder/CEO Daniel Kim on Fox News 12 Oregon 🎥
Earlier this month, Daniel Kim was featured on Fox News 12 Oregon, in a segment highlighting business growth in the state over the past year, which has been higher than any other state based on a recent study by DesignRush.

Daniel discussed why he chose to move the company from San Francisco back to his hometown and why Oregon is a great place for entrepreneurs.

Progress in Arizona🚀

In Arizona, Mike Bailey has been getting closer to completing the subscale CMG model that he's been working on this summer. He resolved a few issues with the previous sensor bracket design and is working on installing the new sensors, which arrived late this week. (image below intentionally blurred).

After running several balancing tests in Portland in August, we sent Mike's 1st subscale gyro back to him so he could begin validating the controls firmware once the solo controller arrives.

David Bailey has also made some updates to the controls firmware this month, which is shown in the MATLAB video demonstration of the CMG's performing a lift-off, balance with an added weight, balance with a second cylindrical weight, then remove the first weight and balance with a rolling mass.

Developmental Chassis
Lastly, we wanted to share footage that we've put together from the final week of our 2024 Summer Internship at the Portland lab.
This is the culmination of our engineering interns' work this summer to template & fabricate a developmental chassis based on the CAD prototype they had been working on (under the supervision of Danny, Stefan, and Dave).
The timelapse footage was taken over the course of their final week as we all worked together to fabricate and weld the 6061 aluminum chassis.
Watch the video here:

We're continuing to make updates to the developmental chassis over the next few weeks. We've finished refabricating the rear plate and have been working on making a new rocker.
The rear suspension plate mount has been cleaned up and tack welded for now. (Cleaner final welds will come later) Through some troubleshooting, we've worked to finalize the rear suspension mounts at the adjusted dimensions and to mount the shocks accordingly.

We will then re-attach modified rear crash bar and make some adjustments to slightly raise the upper portion of the B-pillar cross beam to be consistent with the CAD model measurements.
After that, we plan to begin making front end changes so we can create .dxf files to import into Prototrak Bed Mill, and begin more programmed machine milling with the CNC rig.

We want to send out a huge thank you to our Wefunder community who have been a big support so far in helping us reach nearly $1.5M in pledged investments!
With this progress going into the fall, we’ll continue fundraising for unibody, working to meet our $5M goal that’s necessary for the next round of development, with focus on the CMGs and augmented steering.
As we continue the development process, please help spread the word!
We thank you for all your support!
Warmly,
Daniel Kim
