I like the newsletter. I love the videos. I have been on the waiting list for a while now. I get number 385 off the assembly line. My question is: When will I actually have it in my garage?

  • Evan Langlois

I keep checking back looking for some sort of timeline. After a year, I still know nothing. I can never find any information on what they are working on or what the issues and delays are or any timetables of any kind. No real information at all, but they are accepting money. This is beginning to smell like a scam. If you were a bank, would you loan them money without any indication of when they’ll come to market or when they can start paying back the loan? Anyone can make cool YouTube videos.

Where is the real information at. If you give them money up front, you are an investor and should be privy to this information.

same here. im very supportive and keen to see LitMotors take off, but lack of information is unhelpful and discouraging

    • Steven Rounds

I asked for (and got) a refund on my deposit when the monthly updates on Lit’s progress slowed to a crawl, and then completely stopped. Note how the latest newsletter updates just talk about people they’ve added, but not about people who’ve left? Or progress on outputting a final product? When somebody is asking for my money UP-FRONT, I expect TIMELY updates on progress. For months now, all we’ve seen is computer simulation B.S.. BUT ZERO PRODUCT UPDATES! I believe in Lit’s concept, but have very grave doubts about Lits execution capabilities. I will buy the Lit AEV when it’s available for immediate purchase, but I am no longer willing to fund vaporware.

Hi Steven, when did you contact them for your refund? I’m trying to contact them but haven’t heard back. Did you also use the contact form?

        • Steven Rounds

Hi, Peter. I contacted them on about Oct. 5th, 2015, using the contact form. I got the deposit refund back about 5 days later, as I recall. Never called them…it was all done with email.

          • Moser Peter

Thanks for getting back to me Steven! I’ve sent multiple messages through the contact form over the last couple of weeks without any reply. Have you ever received an address of LitMotors office or work location?

          • Steven Rounds

I actually went to their office, after paying a bunch of money as part of a 2015 Next Conference, so I could actually sit in the prototype to check for headroom fit. I’ll see if the Lit address is still on my Garmin, but I don’t think so. It’d be interesting to see if it’s an empty building now.

          • Moser Peter

Please feel free to send me their address to my email address [email protected]. I live close to SF downtown. I’ll go to their office and in case it is an empty building will let you know.

          • Steven Rounds

Thanks, Peter. I’ll send it if I can find it. I’m near Tahoe. I was reservation 683. You must be really pissed by now.

          • Steven Rounds

            I’ve sent you the address.

          • Moser Peter

LitMotors lack of communication is upsetting. I’ve been one of the first backers with No. 55 certificate of reservation.

          • Dan of Lit

Peter, this is Daniel Kim, if you would like to get an internal update on our status. Happy to talk. Please email [email protected] you phone number and I will call you. Happy to chat.

          • Dan of Lit

Moser Peter, this is Daniel Kim, I understand your frustration. It’s been difficult for all of us but we are definitely getting back on track and we’ve solved some of the technologies most difficult problems over the last five months with the addition of David Bailey. We appreciate your patience and support and will be into touch. Please refer all pre-order related questions to [email protected].

@Steven we have moved to a larger engineering facility we ar no longer at 1086 Folsom st.

          • Moser Peter

Hi Dan, I sent you an email to [email protected].

          • Steven Rounds

What is your current address? I’m sure that investors, with an appointment, would like to check on progress. Since you are not providing any visual proof of progress (I used to provide visual proof to the POTUS and Congress re: the B-2 Bomber…).

  • prostovanka

These are all excellent questions. Why isn’t anyone from Lit Motors replying to these concerns on here? prior to departure of CTO Ryan James, there was constant news updates and replies from him directly.

I could have sworn that I saw him on Market street earlier this Summer. So he is still in SF. Is he completely out of the company?

  • Gary Russell Mills

I am still waiting to get an estimated delivery date. Two years ago when I reserved my Lit, I was under the impression that I would get it in a year or so.

    • http://litmotors.com Lit Motors

Hi Gary, thank you for your comment! We understand that it has taken longer than we initially expected, and your patience is appreciated. We are currently in the prototyping stage of production and are working towards a manufacturing date. Please email the reserve account if you have any additional questions or concerns. We would be happy to address them.

  • Tommy

They’ve held my 10k for over 3 years. Always with a “4th Quarter” delivery date. That’s why the won’t give a date. Last I heard they were redesigning the whole thing.

    • Steven Rounds

I asked for, and got fairly quickly, a refund on my deposit. I ordered a Ford Focus RS instead. One in the hand is worth two in the bush…

      • Tommy

I don’t blame you. I’m really considering doing the same with the Rav 4 Hybrid. It would be cool to own the C1 but my patients is wearing.

  • Moser Peter

If I don’t hear back from Lit Motors regarding my refund I’m considering setting up a web site to expose this scam. Feel free to send me your story to [email protected].

Although I’ve been very enthusiastic about this project and still think a vehicle like the C-1 will eventually be built, I doubt that Lit Motors will be the first. Of course Danny’s accident didn’t help, but I suspect that they’ve hugely underestimated their software development costs. Vehicles today include ever more software, but the C-1 would be the first to literally stand or fall depending on the quality of its code. So even if they had a beta version of their software ready today, I doubt they have the budget to debug it adequately, for that would not only involve simulations, but also many live tests (and costly accidents).

Although something like the C-1 may still be built some day, I no longer believe Lit Motors will build it. Danny’s accident didn’t help, but my suspicion is that they’ve always hugely underestimated the costs needed to develop the software. New vehicles are running ever more software, but this would be the first time one will literally stand or fall depending on the quality of its code. And even if they had a beta version of the their software today, I doubt that they would even be able to pay for debugging it, which would require not only lots of simulations, but also many physical tests that will likely involve more than a few accidents (due to the bugs alone). After all, how else could they possibly claim that the world’s first self-balancing two-wheeled vehicle was indeed so much safer than a motorcycle?
